Sedlescombe Golf Club Hotel is the closest to the church. The Bull, 27 High Street, and the Abbey Hotel, 84 High Street, are both a few minutes from Low Chimneys. For something a little more special (and priced accordingly), Powdermills Country House on Powdermill Lane is about two miles out, set in its own grounds.

Day One

Royal London & Westminster

Morning — Westminster Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, and the Changing of the Guard, if the timing allows.

Afternoon — Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Bridge, and the London Eye.

Evening — A stroll along the South Bank, then on to Covent Garden.

Night — Catch a West End show: Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, The Lion King, or Moulin Rouge.

Day Two

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge & Bath

A full-day tour (bookable via Klook) taking in Windsor Castle, the official residence of the Royal Family; Stonehenge, one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments; and Bath, with its Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and Georgian architecture.

Evening — Dinner in Chinatown or Soho.

Day Three

Greenwich & The O2

Morning — An Uber Boat from Westminster Pier (by Big Ben) across to Cutty Sark Pier for Greenwich: the Cutty Sark, Greenwich Market, Greenwich Park, the Royal Observatory, and the Prime Meridian Line.

Afternoon — A bus to The O2, for the ICON Outlet's designer shopping, restaurants and cafés — with the IFS Cloud Cable Car as an option.

Day Four

Museums & Kensington

Morning — The Natural History Museum, for the Dinosaur Gallery and the Blue Whale Skeleton.

Afternoon — The Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum (Egyptian Collection, the Rosetta Stone), and the National Gallery — all free to enter.

Late afternoon — Kensington High Street, Harrods, and Knightsbridge.

Evening — Dinner in Kensington or Chelsea.

Day Five

Views, Markets & the West End

Morning — The Sky Garden for panoramic views (free, advance booking required), then Leadenhall Market, London Bridge and Tower Bridge, with lunch at Borough Market.

Afternoon — East London: Liverpool Street, Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane and Shoreditch, for street art, cafés and vintage shops.

Evening — Shopping along Oxford Street, Selfridges, Liberty London and Carnaby Street, then Leicester Square, Chinatown and Trafalgar Square by night.

Optional Day Six

Notting Hill

Morning — Notting Hill and Portobello Road Market (best on Fridays and Saturdays).

Afternoon — Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.

Evening — Dinner in Notting Hill.
